Plan Reviews
Our Plan Reviews service includes a complete review of construction documents for new or remodeled projects. Plans are reviewed to ensure they comply with all applicable facets of the state and federal standards. Doorways, turning radius, and interior and exterior paths of interior and exterior reach ranges are only a few of the elements reviewed and noted on a comprehensive report which is delivered to the client.
Texas Facility Inspections
In Texas, the TDLR enforces the Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS) and requires inspections to ensure that facilities are accessible to people with disabilities. The TAS is based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility guidelines from the 1990’s.
Here are some things to know about TAS inspections:
- Inspections are required within the first year of a project’s completion date
- TDLR -licensed Registered Accessibility Specialist (RAS) must conduct the inspection.
- Inspectors check that accessibility features are installed correctly and meet the TAS requirements. They look for things like narrow doorways, steep ramps, lack of handrails, signage, and lighting.
- After the inspection, if the building passes, the inspector issues a letter or certificate of compliance. If the building fails, the inspector issues a letter of noncompliance that lists areas of non-compliance and what needs to be done to fix them.
We have compiled a list of the TDLR forms needed in one simple place.
Following are the TDLR forms you may need:
- TDLR Post Construction Variance Form
- TDLR Project Registration Form
- TDLR Proof of Submission Form
- TDLR Variance Application Form
- TDLR POI Form (Proof of Inspection)
- TDLR OAD (Owner Agent Designation)
- TDLR Notice of Substantial Compliance Request
- TDLR Request for Inspection
National Facility Inspections
National facility inspections for ADA compliance are audits of properties, businesses, or facilities to ensure they meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA is a US law that requires businesses and public accommodations to provide equal access and services to people with disabilities.
