Course Objectives:

Learners will understand the relationship between accessibility requirements in the International Building Code (IBC) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards.

Learners will identify requirements for new construction and alterations.

Learners will understand how to comply with accessibility standards for ramps, stairways, entrances and doors.

Learners will discuss requirements for toilet rooms, showers, drinking fountains, kitchen facilities and assembly areas. Learners will learn how aerobic treatment and subsurface drip irrigation systems work.

Learners will analyze anticipated developments in accessibility standards.
